Create kissable lips for Valentine’s Day and beyond

Lip augmentation in Nottingham

The mouth is the body’s most visible erogenous zone, and full, smooth lips signify youth and attractiveness, so it’s no surprise that they are a focal point when romance blossoms. Kissing is often the ultimate test, and one study found that it can be a deal breaker: 59% of men and 66% of women ended a new relationship with someone they found attractive when the first kiss didn’t go well.

As it’s nearly that time of year again, read on for our tips for kissable lips for this Valentine’s Day and beyond:

Stay hydrated

After a cold, harsh winter, it’s no surprise that our lips can look dry and cracked when February rolls around. Include them in your skincare routine to keep your pout looking plump and hydrated. First, prep your lips by removing dry, dead skin cells. Regular exfoliation will help them absorb any moisturising products you then apply.

If your lips are still looking dehydrated and deflated, Dr Claudia uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler Juvederm Volbella which has a soft formulation to restore a natural feeling of fullness and hydration to the lips and mouth area.

Turn back time

The mouth is a highly mobile area of the face, and over time, it is common to develop fine perioral lines around the mouth, known as lipstick lines, barcode lines or smoker’s lines. Dr Claudia uses a layering technique with very soft Teoxane hyaluronic acid filler, which smooths these lines without adding any unnatural volume.

A subtle lip augmentation

Although influencers and celebrities with inflated pouts may dominate social media, most patients seek a natural rejuvenation of lips that have become thinner and less defined as they age. Small amounts of lip filler can be added to restore the vermillion border of the lips or to volumise the lips subtly.

As well as lip augmentation, ADr Claudia also performs the lip flip to make the lips look bigger without the need for filler. Small units of botulinum toxin injected along the vermillion border of the upper lip relaxes the orbicularis oris muscle. The lip rolls slightly upwards and outwards, increasing the height of the upper lip. This also prevents the top lip from curling inward when you smile.

Turn up your smile

When the forces of gravity affect the mouth, the corners of the mouth start to droop, and patients often worry they look unnecessarily sad or cross. Dr CP Aesthetics has two treatment options for a downturned mouth depending on the patient’s unique anatomy.

One cause of a downturned mouth is the action of the muscles known as depressor anguli oris that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin. When we frown they pull down the corners of the mouth and, over time, this can lead to drooping mouth corners. Botulinum toxin is injected into this muscle which prevents it from contracting and produces a more elevated appearance to the edges of your lips.If the issue is volume loss and descent of the soft tissues, dermal filler product placed under the corners of the mouth provides support and a subtle lift.
