Plasma treatment for non-surgical blepharoplasty

Plasmage causes sublimation which is the process of turning a solid straight into a gas, so results are instant and there is no heat transferred to surrounding tissues to cause damage to normal skin. Plasmage uses plasma energy so there is no electric current. Plasmage will remove excess tissue causing skin tightening.

This technology has been around for many years and there have been no significant adverse events.

It can be uncomfortable, so I tend to use local anaesthetic injections into the area to totally numb it and ensure the treatment is as pain free as possible.

Immediately following the procedure you will notice tiny brown spots in neat rows along the area treated. I always liken them to a rather pretty Henna tattoo at this point!

Swelling will occur a few hours after the treatment, will be most prominent the day after and will gradually subside over a week. The area will appear red and may feel sore and itchy. At about five days the crusts will slough off and the skin will look improved. It is not uncommon to notice tiny pits in the skin at the site of the plasmage treatment, these are barely noticeable and should resolve totally over a few months.

Cold compresses may be applied to reduce the swelling.

If the swelling is particularly prominent then anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can be taken (provided there is no contraindication to these medications with regards your medical history).

Crusting will develop, but it is important not to pick the crusts off as this may lead to infection and scarring.

Try your best to keep the area clean and dry and protect it with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Often more than one treatment is needed for optimum results and I will perform up to three treatments at six-week intervals if it is necessary to get the best results possible.
