PRP Facial rejuvenation

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy, also known as the vampire facelift Is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure which uses the patient's blood mixed with a product to stimulate collagen growth under the skin. It has been used in many areas of medicine in the past as it is essentially a repair system which places growth factors in the exact place where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself.

What does it do?

PRP reduces the appearance of wrinkles, tightens and tones the skin and improves collagen and volume loss. The healing properties of the platelet rich plasma can also be used for acne scarring and rosacea. PRP has been particularly helpful in rejuvenating those tricky areas such as the backs of hands and décolletage.

What happens during a treatment?

A small amount of blood is taken from your arm just like a normal blood test. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge and spun at high speed which separates the plasma from the red blood cells. A sterile syringe is used to withdraw only the PRP from the sample then this is injected into the problem area of skin. Platelets contain a high content of growth factors which are proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. Upon re-injection, the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to reproduce, in turn stimulating repair, increasing volume and rejuvenating the skin.

The whole procedure only involves needle injections to the desired area and requires virtually no healing time.

The procedure usually takes less than an hour and patients can go home or to work following treatment.

Patients generally feel the results of the treatment immediately afterwards and the results improve a few weeks later as the collagen increases and generates more healthy cells beneath the skin.

There is no limit to the number of treatments you have however we do recommend a course of three to see the best results.
